My name is Meryl Martin. I decided to write this blog to help myself heal from severe trauma and to develop my writing skills. I was also hoping to bring some inspiration to others while doing so. What has become of this blog is that it is a very varied blog: I tend to write about a variety of topics, sometimes differing in topic every day. I’ve come to realize that this is okay. The reason why is that it shows both me and you that even though a person can survive the most horrific abuse, and deal with the daily struggles of chronic health issues, he or she can still lead a full and interesting life. So, while I feel somewhat embarrassed that I don’t stick to one topic on my blog, that’s okay, because it means that I have varied interests and a dynamic life. I hope that if you have been through trauma and abuse, like myself, or if you suffer from chronic illness (I have Chronic Lyme Disease and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis), that you can learn from my blog that it is still possible to lead a good life despite suffering. I feel like I learn this more and more every day. Some of you might like my posts about my goldendoodle, Maggie; some of you might like reading about the journey my older cats are going through, especially the ones who have had (and have) cancer; and some of you might like to read my posts about dealing with chronic illness and the aftermath of trauma. There are also those readers who follow me because of my posts that critical of Alcoholics Anonymous and the predatory culture there. There’s really something for everyone within my posts of this blog, if you search for it. So I hope that you enjoy reading my blog, and find some sort of inspiration in my words to live the best life that you can, regardless of your circumstances. Thanks for reading!
