We took Maggie on one of my favorite hikes today, the Icicle Gorge Trail near Leavenworth, Washington. It’s a really nice, flat hike that loops around a river that is full of rapids. The loop is about 4 miles, but you can add onto it by doing a view hike above the loop. This year, though, since Maggie’s still a puppy, we kept it to four miles or so. She seemed to have a lot of fun but was a little afraid of the loud rapids.
The road getting there was not great towards the end, though. It was a dirt road with a lot of potholes and was wet because of the recent rain. Our Versa made it through okay though.
Tomorrow is Maggie’s 9 month birthday. We’re going to take her to a dog park and then go on another hike on Monday, not as long this time though, in order to keep her from getting too worn out of injured (you’re not supposed to do long hikes with puppies too often). I’m going to do an hour of yoga tomorrow for my exercise.
Here’s a picture of me and Maggie on the hike this morning. We got to the trailhead by 10 am, and then went out to the Fresh Burger Cafe in Leavenworth after we were done with the hike. It’s been a fun day! Oh, and as a note for anyone who’s into hiking, get to the trailheads early. By noon the trailhead was full and overflowing. I’m glad we had an early start, even if I only did get 6 hours of sleep last night!
