There’s a lot of challenges out there right now regarding fitness. There are 14 or 30 day squat challenges, push up challenges, and plank challenges. Then there are yoga challenges as well. I’ve been thinking about doing one of these challenges for a couple of weeks. I’ve decided on a 30 day yoga challenge because I just love yoga. But, I’m not going to follow any kind of prescribed workout program or anything like that. I’m going to do the Sunrise Yoga videos on Gaia.com, and try to do a restorative video at least once or twice a week to give my muscles a break. It’s important not for me not to over train or get too fatigued.
I’ve been doing yoga anywhere from 3-5 days a week for a few weeks now, so I should be able to do this challenge if I mix it with some restorative yoga. I’m really looking forward to it.
I don’t know how much weight I’ll lose, though. This past week I actually gained weight but lost about 1% fat percentage (I have a machine that measures it). So even though it’s frustrating to gain weight, I must be gaining muscle weight if my fat percentage is going down. I still have a goal to lose about 11 pounds from where I’m at but it might take me some time to do so.
I really do struggle with body image, though. I weigh 131 pounds and am 5 foot 4, so am in the healthy range for my weight, and fat percentage too, which is a little high at 29% (this is part of the reason I’m doing exercise and dieting, is to get my fat percentage down). But still my mind tells me that I’m fat. I’m trying to get out of this mindset and just focus on how I feel both physically and emotionally. Hopefully this 30 day yoga challenge will help me with that along with the intermittent fasting that I’m doing.
